quantum dots. The presence of significant S-orbitals between the dots indicates that tunneling is probable between the structures. While the structures are not connected physically, they are connected via quantum tunneling. They also created visualizations that show the orbitals and linear combinations of these orbitals as well as lines whose intersections show the locations of the atoms.
